EVIL AS THEY COME, VINDICTIVE AS THEY MAKE THEM.: Someone Like You.
Johnny locked his jaw as he sat at the dinner table with his family. It was of some occasion, he wasn’t sure, yet the entire side of his family of his dad’s was there. To say that Johnny liked this side of the family was a lie. It was odd to think Johnny DiMarco’s family was defined as classier….
“Don’t worry about me, Bacwoods.” The words were easier said than done. How could she not worry about him having to sleep on a park bench? Yeah, he could take care of himself, as it were obvious that he’d learned to do for so long, but still, absolutely anything could happen to him at night. She softly sighed as he kissed her head, closing her eyes and trying to find some way to be optimistic for them both. She nuzzled her face in his chest, unsure of what to say. She wanted to say anything that would keep him optimistic, but the fact that he was already used to this behavior, she knew that her temporary optimism wouldn’t do much for his long-term pessimistic behavior. She wrapped her arms tightly around his waist and it all made sense. She thought of Owen and his family issues that didn’t plan on speaking of, and the way he was. She thought of Fitz, and all that Clare had told her about his family issues, and then she’d thought of her boyfriend. They were all treated the same way at home. Johnny wasn’t physically abused, not that she was aware of anyway. But suddenly, it all made sense. The reason they all acted in that specific way. Afraid to offend him, or his friends, she kept that thought to herself. But quickly made a mental note not to judge his actions so harshly.
She stood on her tippy toes, moving her face closer to his, not letting her smile fade, as he began to protest. “I won’t get caught, really. This plan is bulletproof!” She awaited his answer patiently, and as she began to think that he’d object, she gently pulled on his shirt, batting her eyelashes once more. “Pleeeease, Johnny.” When she stopped to think about it, her plan was really airtight. Her parents were up by 5am, out of the house by 6am, and they weren’t back home until 7pm. That would actually give them a lot more time together than she originally planned. She jumped and threw her arms around his neck as he agreed and put his arm around her.
As they continued walking, she smiled to herself. She knew that even though this weren’t a positive night for him, she was determined to turn that around for him. She knew a ton of facts about the stars, and since they’d be sleeping under them, she could tell him all that she knew about them. The pros of being a genius. She intertwined her free hand in his, and with her other, she wrapped her arm around his waist as they walked. It wasn’t far at all, just beyond the park that her and Clare used to always go to when they were younger, and even recently. As they approached the park, she smiled up at him. “This place is really peaceful, ya know? I think this will be perfect for you.. After what you’ve been through tonight.” She smiled sweetly and walked on her tippy toes, just long enough to kiss him on the cheek.
